This will be the first year that I am on-track during Valentine's Day. I have the book The Day It Rained Hearts. Does anyone have any activities to go with the book??

  1. I saw a blog (but I can't remember whose......maybe Babbling Abby's or her new teacher blog) that she compared The Day it Rained Hearts to Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. It was super cute. I wanted to do it but can't find The Day it Rained Hearts book.

  2. I had never heard of the book, but I think Abby from the Inspired Apple had something posted for this book!

  3. I used this book for a writing lesson and had my students come up with ideas of how they would react if they found out it was raining hearts (because the girl in the book seems so calm and this bothered my students!) and what they would do with the hearts. Or they could change the hearts to something else if they wanted to. After they wrote, they illustrated a picture then used heart stickers (small ones usually used for incentive charts) to make it look like it was raining hearts. I did have a few students choose some other things for it to be raining. One chose baseballs (ouch!) because I had some stickers and one chose apples for the same reason. I had a ton of different kinds of incentive chart stickers for them to choose from. The stories were great...some were hilarious.
