January Fun

Here are some pictures of what we've done this month. My favorite are the Martin Luther King, Jr. TLC. They really turned out CUTE.

I also like this math bulletin board. The kids had to pretend to buy some items from our classroom store.

I hope to post some of the cute projects we did today. We did one on the Three Billy Goats Gruff and another for Social Studies: Then and Now.

Literacy Day #2

We had our 2nd Literacy Day on Monday, January 24th. Kinder and First grade teachers all read Eric Carle books and then made some fun cut and glue activities for the kids. It was an ALL day thing. The kids had so much fun! Here are a few pictures of what went on. At the end of the day, the kids got a free book as part of Reading Is Fundamental.

Chinese New Year

Here is a quick activity we did this year. Just made copies of envelopes on red construction paper. I had the kids tell me what they would do with their lucky money.

Is and Are Robots

As part of our Language Arts program, we read a story called "Rose Robot". During the same week we were learning how and when to use the verbs is and are. So I typed up the sentences found in my TE. The kids then had to complete the sentences using the correct verb. But they also got to color, cut, and glue to make these darling robots. I think they came out SUPER cute!

Penguins and Snowmen

This Monday was our first day back from a 5 WEEK LONG break. So, I thought it would be fun to do a simple and fast penguin activity. So I tried the tree map that so many of you have been sharing. THANK YOU! It really helped the kids to write. I got the idea for my penguins from Sara (First Grader...at Last!) I saw the cute counters she made and thought how EASY! It was very fast and easy. Just a little something to get them excited for being back at school.

Snowmen Contractions

We've been discussing contractions for a while now. I used a snowman with a hat clip art. I wrote a contraction on the hat and the kids had to write the two words on the snowman body. A colleague had the cute idea of making it look like a book.
